GRAND MASTER'S REPORT
To the Grand Lodge I.O.O.F. of Texas: Brothers, The time is coming to bring our ships into port. I would like to thank each of you for your support and hospitality while traveling this year. I would like to thank Brother B. J. Longshore for donating the new van. It has been a great asset in my traveling. the van brings much needed publicity to our order.
Let me take this time to thank the Grand Lodge officers for their help and support this year. I would like to give a special thanks to brother B. J. Miller who had to stand in for me a few occasions during a death and in family sickness. Brother B. J. has been a true brother and friend this year.
Although we haven't instituted any new lodges this year, there have been many lodges working to increase membership. With the support of all our lodges, Dallas County Association hosted fair day October 15, 1995 which was attended by over 100 members. The Pilgrimage to the home was September 10, 1995. This was an enjoyable weekend with residents at the homes. A special thanks goes to the Juniors and Theta Rhos of Texas for the entertainment. the Christmas party was December 10, 1995. we had a very large crowd of people at this also. Balch Springs Odd Fellows and Rebekahs furnished the refreshments and the program was presented by the Balch Springs Juniors and Theta Rhos.
One of the dreams of Sister Betty Dowell and I was to send the youth to Colorado for Sovereign Grand Lodge youth day. This was a success thanks to all of you. We had 22 youth attend and every youth was represented in a talent program.
As bringing my ship to a port this year, I have traveled over 34,000 miles visiting lodges, riding in parades, helping the Sovereign Grand Master and I.A.R.A. President plant a tree in San Antonio, laying a wreath at the Tomb in Washington D.C., attending association meetings, working with the youth and supporting these projects, attending Sovereign Grand Lodge in Colorado, visiting the State Secretaries Association in Lake Jackson, and I also attended five out of six of my super star rallies.
I would like to thank my home lodges in Balch Springs for their time and support this year.
A special thanks to the ladies at the Grand Lodge office, you are all wonderful.
Fraternally Yours,
Bruce Weeks
Grand Master
The Odd Fellows require members to have Belief in a Supreme Being, the Creator and Preserver of the Universe. We have a Bible sitting in our lodge hall and the national flag is displayed at all times, we emphasizes a covenant to God and to civil law. No one can become an Odd Fellow unless they are faithful to the God in the religion of their own choosing.
